RESIDENTS had to be evacuated from flats in Runcorn in the early hours of this morning, Thursday.
Firefighters from Runcorn Fire Station rushed to the scene on Halton Lodge Avenue in two fire engines at 1.52am.
On arrival, they discovered that the fire had already been extinguished, however they used a large fan to disperse the smoke.

Following an investigation, they concluded that they fire was caused by a towel smouldering in the bathroom.
A number of residents inside the flats were evacuated as a precaution.
