A MAN was injured after a car crashed into a house while attempting to flee a gang armed with knives in Runcorn.

Between 4pm and 4.20pm on Friday, June 18, a disturbance involving a man and a woman occurred outside an address on Masseyfield Road.

The man then got inside the passenger side of a black Audi that was being driven by a woman.

A group of men, wearing balaclavas and armed with knives and machetes, surrounded the car and caused damage to the windows.

The driver attempted to drive away from the men and the car went into the front of a house on Bartlegate. The car then drove away from the area.

A man inside the property sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A number of enquiries have been ongoing to establish those involved and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As part of the investigation, police are appealing to the public to come forward with information, CCTV or dash cam footage which could be of assistance.

DC Faye Taylor, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: “Since the incident was reported, there have been a number of enquiries made to understand exactly what took place and the reasoning behind it.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and I am urging anyone who was in the area at the time or knows anything about what happened to get in touch.

“I know people may be reticent in coming forward and I would encourage them to report information anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers.

“If anyone has CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident, it can also be submitted anonymously via the public mailbox.

“Any information – no matter how small – can greatly assist with our investigation.”

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted section 18 assault.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and threats to kill.

Both have since been released on conditional bail.
