Bridge Timber F.C. 4 Fiddlers F.C. 0 Runcorn Cup holders Bridge Timber won through to the Runcorn Sunday Cup final which will this year be held at pavilions in Runcorn on Wednesday 6th May after beating a spirited Fiddlers F.C. team.

The game was only 4 minutes old when Ste Hicksons dangerous corner was deflected home for an own goal to give Bridge a 1 goal lead. in the 7th minute Jordan Neary was sent off so Bridge changed there formation and with Timbers back 4 of Karl Jenkins,Chris Ellams,Peter Murphy and Captain Lee Evans playing to their strengths, Timbers keeper Andy Stringer had little to do.

38 minutes in, Jamie Cumpper received the ball in the Fiddlers box, after his trickery dazzled the fidds defenders a penalty was awarded, Mike Chesters put the ball down and calmly sent the keeper the wrong way for 2-0.

In the 40th minute Peter Murphy advanced from his left back position and after great work by Cumpper, Karl Jenkins crossed to the back post and Murphys bullet headed was too much for the keeper and it found the corner for goal number 3. In the 2nd half Brilliant defending by Lee Evans thwarted another attack by the Fidds front line, Karl Jenkins also threw in a great tackle and the clearance was latched onto by Thomas Whalley, after battling with the defender and with the advancing keeper closing him down, he toe poked the ball goalwards, only to see it roll just wide of the post.

Fiddlers had a decent shot in the 47th minute but Stringer in the Bridge goal gathered easily and sent Bridge on the attack. Fiddlers saw a bit more of the ball in the 2nd half, using the extra man, and it wasnt until the 63rd minute that another goal came, Peter Murphys slick play found Ste Hickson in the centre circle, Hickson danced past 4 players and went clean through, finding the bottom corner from 18 yards to make it 4-0.

Bridge missed a few more chances late on, with Karl Jenkins, Thomas Whalley and Lee Evans coming close with a good header from a corner. Lee Evans was Bridge Timbers man of the match with an outsatnding display from the heart of Bridge's defence.
