AFTER months of training, thousands of runners will be gearing themselves up for the London Marathon.
And after national reports suggest this year could be the hottest on record, we thought our local runners deserve all the support they can get.
Here's the runners we will be cheering on this year and why you should too:
Alan Myler, from Widnes, is running for North West Cancer Research in memory of his dad.
He told us: "I am inspired by my dad.
“I picked this charity because it helps fund cancer research in this area. It leads the way in the fight against cancer where only world-class research will do.
“One in three of us will at one point in our lives be touched by cancer and it is our responsibility to ensure that we are doing all we can in the battle against cancer.”
Joanne Kelly, from Widnes, is running for the charity Anthony Nolan after battling blood cancer.
She told us: "I was so very lucky that I had one match out there willing to donate his stem cells and Anthony Nolan was the charity who made it happen.
"I am even luckier that the transplant - whilst the hardest thing I've ever had to go through - worked like a charm.
"I recovered really well over the year that followed and, five years on, I'm still here."
Are you from Widnes or Runcorn and running the London Marathon this year?
Send in a picture of yourself along with your name, age, the area you live, why you're taking part and your fundraising page details.
