BEN Currie says confidence is high in a Warrington Wolves squad he feels are yet to hit their straps.

Wolves have a 100 percent record after three rounds of Super League, but the versatile second row has seen room for improvement.

“We need to keep hold of the ball,” said the 21-year-old. “We had goals to reach certain percentages and we’re not reaching them.

“Some are silly errors, and maybe the skills will pick up throughout the year. It’s about us completing with the ball and not giving it away, making the opposition defend more than they attack.

“It’s the sign of a good team if you don’t perform to your best but still come away with the win. I’m sure before you know it we’ll be hitting our straps.”

Currie is impressed at fellow second-rower, and former Golborne High School student, Jack Hughes’ start.

“He’s playing very well for us and giving us a complete new threat on that right edge with the athleticism and speed he’s got,” added Currie, who feels Wolves have the depth to deal with injuries to Kurt Gidley and Daryl Clark this week.

“We know the talent in our team and in our squad, we know if we get injuries people can come in and slot straight in. The confidence is high at the moment.”

Tonight, Thursday, will pitch him against ex-Wire Gareth O’Brien.

“He seems to be playing well for them, there might be a few words from a few of the boys, but on the pitch it’s all serious,” said Currie.
