FORMER SAINTS, Leigh, Oldham and Ireland stand off Tommy Martyn has joined Vikings as a kicking coach.

Martyn, who has previously performed a similar role at neighbouring Super League clubs, was arguably one of the most naturally gifted tactical kickers to grace the summer era.

With a good kicking game now being one of the most important aspects of rugby league in terms of building pressure, making yards and creating tries - Vikings have clearly felt that this aspect of their game needs an extra bit of expert guidance.

The former Lance Todd Trophy winner Martyn has already started work at Halton Stadium.

Meanwhile, 300 fans gathered at the Stobart Stadium last week as Vikings unveiled their 2010 home shirt.

Manufactured by Irish based O’Neill’s Sportswear, the shirt has been specially designed with advanced moisture control allowing the body to breathe easily with the garment feeling dry and cool to contribute to improved player performance.

The shirt features the RFL’s ‘Try Assist’ logo, the new name for the RFL Benevolent Fund, and a new sleeve sponsor for 2010 in Halton Housing Trust.

Vikings will wear the shirt for the first time against Warrington Wolves in the World of Beds Cup on Boxing Day.

The kit is on sale at the O’Neill’s outlet in Widnes town centre. The shirt is available in sizes 1-2 yrs to 5XL priced from £30.
