A RUNCORN race team is plotting a return to the UK’s premier sports car series this season, writes Andrew Simpson.

ABG Motorsport tested its 2011-spec KTM X-Bow during the Avon Tyres British GT Championship media day at Silverstone on Tuesday.

Its driver line-up for the GT4 class has yet to be decided.

The team’s combination in 2010, Rory Butcher and Benjamin Harvey, helped the outfit to second spot in the series’ G4 class last term after scoring one class win – and three runners-up spots – in the 13-races campaign.

They finished behind fellow Cheshire challengers Speedworks Motorsport, who called upon team principal Christian Dick and Jamie Stanley as pilots of a Ginetta G50.

The British GT season starts at ABG’s home circuit, Oulton Park, at Easter.
