WIDNES Vikings dropped down the Championship table as a result of their defeat at York Knights on Sunday.
Allan Coleman’s side are now seventh after their 26-12 loss at the LNER Community Stadium.
Vikings, who have travelled through April without picking up a win, were never in the lead at York, who knocked Widnes out of the 1895 Cup 39-6 earlier this month.
Trailing 10-0 in the first half, Vikings responded with a try from Mike Butt, who finished acrobatically by the corner after Joe Edge and Jack Owens created space for the winger to squeeze in.
But a Joe Brown score shortly before half-time was a welcome boost for the hosts as they turned around 16-6 to the good.
An Ata Hingano try for York early in the second half left Vikings with too much ground to make up.
When Jesse Dee was sent to the sin bin with 10 minutes to go for a dangerous tackle on Liam Bent, Vikings took advantage of the numerical advantage as Ryan Ince crossed in the corner and Tom Gilmore kicked his second conversion to cut the deficit.
It was no more than a consolation though and Jones-Bishop completed York’s scoring on the final hooter.
Vikings travel to bottom side Hunslet, with just one win to their name, on Sunday.
Coleman's side also lost to Barrow Raiders during April, while they drew with Oldham at home to end the month with just one point gained.
