A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl from Widnes has been selected to compete in the British Acrobatic NDP final in May after winning first place at the North West preliminaries.
Luna Tootle, who attends St Bede’s Catholic Junior School, is now a three-time acrobatics champion - despite only starting the sport 18-months ago.
The active student represents Hope Acrobatic Gymnastics, based in Earlestown, and competed at the north west preliminaries with her partners Isla Cook and Ava Earley on Sunday, March 17.
Luna also qualified for the British Schools Tumbling Championships on at the beginning of the month in the under 11 category, where she will represent the North West and her school.
In total, the acrobatics champion spends around 16-22 hours a week training, which can increase as competitions and performances draw closer.
Luna, who says her favourite thing about her hobbies is ‘climbing on people’, has also been dancing since the age of two and will represent England in this year’s Dance World Cup taking place in Prague in June.
Despite only being nine, Luna qualified for the World Cup with four different routines, as well as a duet that qualified in the 14 to 17-year-old category with her partner, Ellie Rose Fenney.
The contortion enthusiast wants to continue acrobatics and dance professionally as she grows up, but also hopes to create costumes and leotards for shows when she is no longer physically able to compete.
Luna and her Acrobatic team will compete at the British Acrobatic NDP Final on Saturday, May 25.
