Since returning from Covid the mighty green & yellows have been on fire producing some breath-taking displays in a busy period in league & cup!

First game back after a long break due to Covid, Linnets welcomed their neighbours Runcorn Town to the Millbank in the cup, Linnets had all the possession dominating the game and went ahead with a cool free kick under the wall from Jorge Dwyer to put the hosts 1 up, the lead was then doubled when Nabil Rahim finished with aplomb.

Linnets in control and went 3 up with a fine solo goal from Rhys Ferguson. Town got themselves back in the game against the run of play with a great counterattack 3-1.

Three minutes later Town scored a screamer game on 3-2. Linnets shuffled the pack and took control of the game but squandered chances game finished linnets 3 Town 2, it was nice to be back.

Next up was Vauxhall Motors away in the cup Linnets were playing great football but just couldn’t find a way through the organised Vauxhalls defence, until Nabil Rahim headed home a great cross from Jorge Dwyer, 5 mins left and Nabil grabbed his second with a calm finish to win the game 0-2 Next up was Maghull at the Millbank, Maghull had been unbeaten until this point in the league, with a number of well-earned points against South Liverpool and Remyca but the Linnets where on fire from start to finish with a breath-taking display of football with some of the best goals you could ever see at any level. Linnets ran riot eventually winning 11-0, Nabil Rahim opened the scoring with a tremendous solo goal only to score another absolute worldie 5 mins later, he went on to complete his Hat trick and probably the best hat trick witnessed by all watching. Also, on the score sheet Adam idown 1, Jordan Monthe 1, Harry McDonald 1, Rhys Ferguson 1, Ishmael Sonko 2, Fenton Gibbons 1, Morgan Gunther 1, class act today the mighty corn.

Next up the biggest game of the season at the Millbank Stadium v Mossley Hill who were sitting top of the league unbeaten, Linnets needed to take all 3 points to stop Mossley Hill lifting the League cup and put themselves at the top.

And boy did they perform Linnets just bossed the game from start to finish with great desire to win winning every loose ball but great in possession too, Linnets went 1-0 up 12 mins into the game when Thomas Collins rose like a salmon on the back post and finished with a bullet header, on the half hour mark Linnets went 2-0 up with Jordan Monthe running at the Mossley defence Jordan left them all mesmerised with his silky skills and fired home into the bottom corner.

During the Second half the Linnets Gaffer Robbie Gibbo & David Todd made changes, and this paid off too as Ishmael Sonko came onto the pitch and scored a great solo effort and floated the ball over the keeper from 25 yards out to put the mighty Linnets 3 up!

Linnets were turning the screw enjoying themselves every player with a MOM performance and when Gerrard Crane hit a screamer like Stevie G into the top corner with a furious drive to go 4 up the players and coaching staff knew Mossley couldn’t come back from this which led to great celebrations on the pitch a massive big piley on the goal scorer. Mossley pulled a goal back late in the game, but what a performance from Runcorn Linnets to see them go top of the pile in the West Cheshire youth league, Linnets face Bootle next weekend and a win will see them crowned champions, good luck Linnets.
