WORK is progressing on a fan zone at Barrow AFC’s ground.

The club has provided an update on the progress of the new building, which will serve as a place to drink and buy merchandise at Holker Street on matchdays.

Photos of the development show how work on the fanzone has progressed, with the building starting to take shape.

Updating Bluebirds fans, a post on the club’s website said: “Whilst there isn’t any football going on at the Progression Solicitors Stadium, work on our new fan zone continues (in line with government guidelines).

“The building will give supporters somewhere different to drink at home games and will also include some other facilities such as toilets, a place to buy BAFC merchandise, match day programmes and more.

“We will continue to update you on the progress of the fan zone as and when we can and we look forward to welcoming you all into it.”

Barrow AFC chairman Paul Hornby previously explained the reasoning behind the new facility at the club’s latest fans forum.

He said: “It’s going to give fans more facilities in the ground, a dry place in the ground and there are going to be disabled toilets etc – it’s going to take us into the modern age.”

Foundations for the new fan zone, which is at the Steelworks End of the ground, were laid in January following a slight delay in the project.
