JASON Clark is thankful for one thing this year – no more trips to IKEA.

The Wire forward and his family – wife Lauren and daughters Milla, Andi and Billie – have been in Warrington for a little over a year now having made the big move from Australia.

It may have been tough at first, but the 30-year-old says the place feels much more like home.

With his contract due to expire at the end of the current season, Clark says he would be open to stay longer – but there are powers above him that must give the green light first.

“The girls are always in charge!” he said.

“I’d definitely be open to staying. I’m 30 now but I feel good and happy with the way I’m playing.

“It’s up to the club really – if the opportunity came to stay on I’d go home and speak to the wife and kids. My eldest is six now so I’d tell her what the opportunity was.

“Hopefully we’ll know sooner rather than later because we might need to be packing things up to go home in October.

“We’re a lot more settled in than this time last year.

“We went back to Australia for October and November but when we got back here, it felt a lot more homely.

“Everything was set up and nice and clean. We didn’t need to go to IKEA three times a week to get furniture, beds, linen and all that stuff.

“It was just home and it was a lot easier to come back.”

On the field, Clark has started all four of The Wire’s games thus far this season at loose forward.

His efforts in the opening-day defeat to Wigan Warriors earned him the Warrington Guardian readers’ man of the match award.

While he feels in decent form, the former South Sydney Rabbitoh is adamant there is more to come from him as one of head coach Steve Price’s on-field generals.

With co-captain Chris Hill available again after a three-match suspension for Friday’s trip to Leeds Rhinos, Clark says it is time to step things up as a middle unit

“Pricey gives me my little jobs each week and he’s good at communicating them. He doesn’t need to do anything different with me.

“I’d like to think there’s still more to come from me.

“Being so early on, there’s still teething problems and you’re still getting your match fitness.

“I know you do plenty of fitness in pre-season but there’s nothing like getting out there and playing.

We feel like we’re working well as a middle. Chris Hill is back after this week and then we’ll get back to our ways.”
