TYLDESLEY Ladies are now officially one of the top eight teams in the British Water Polo League and next season will be competing against the big city clubs of Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Coventry.

It is an amazing achievement with six Under 18 players and the majority of the girls from Tyldesley.

There are still two games to play this season but promotion is assured.

There is still an outside chance of winning the League if Caledonia lose their remaining matches in Walsall in four weeks time.

The first game of the weekend was against Sheffield and Tyldesley Ladies controlled the game from the start, convincingly inflicting Sheffield’s first defeat of the season by 13-6 with goals by Honor Grimes 4, Izzy Robb 3, Holly Toone 2, Jess Robb, Jordan Parsons and Grace Morley. Player of the Match was 14-year-old Izzy Robb.

The second game was 18-7 win over Welsh Wanderers with Holly Toone 8 goals, Honor Grimes 4, Kelsy Evans 3, Jordan Parsons 2 and Jess Robb.

The third game of the weekend was against unbeaten Hucknall a team Tyldesley have never previously beaten.

It was a good physical game and half time the score was 6 all, but Tyldesley continued to press in the final quarter to win the game by 13 goals to 11 and secure promotion with two games left.

Goalscorers were Honor Grimes 4, Holly Toone 2, Kelsy Evans 2, Jordan Parsons 2, Grace Rowland 2 and Izzy Robb.

It is the first time Tyldesley Ladies have been promoted to the top tier of British Water Polo League.
