LATCHFORD Albion head coach Martyn Ellis has once again been chosen to head up a representative team.

Ellis, who is just about to start his second season at Victoria Park, has been named as the new head coach of the Great Britain Teachers Rugby League Association.

Having served on the coaching staff of the North West Men’s League Lionhearts touring squad and Lancashire’s under 18s, it is another feather in the cap for Ellis, who will combine his new role with his Latchford duties.

“It's a real honour to be appointed as GB TRL head coach,” he said.

“I'm looking forward to getting started and develop the game to give teachers opportunities to represent GB.

“We'll be looking at working closely with the North and South TRL to make the competition stronger.”

Albion take the field for their first pre-season fixture on Saturday as they travel to Orrell St James for a friendly match.

They have another friendly pencilled in before the season begins – against Wigan Spring View on Saturday, February 15 at Victoria Park.

They may have assembled a strong squad for the upcoming North West Men's League Division One campaign, but Latchford are always on the lookout for new players to join their team.
