EAGLE coach Ste Yates bemoaned chances missed as his side exited the Halbro Cup in cruel fashion.
Following a 10-10 draw with Prenton at Thornton Road on Saturday and with the sides also level on tries scored, it was Prenton that went through as the away team.
A Chris Bates try and two goals from Kieran Thomas provided the home side’s points but ultimately, their efforts proved in vain.
“Extra time would have been a fairer way to settle the game after such a hard-fought match,” Yates said.
“But those are the rules and we should have taken some of our chances earlier.”
Eagle are back in league action on Saturday when they host Liverpool St Helens’ thirds.
