SPEED proved the perfect tonic to power for Eagle on Saturday against West Park’s thirds.
Reading the heavier home pack’s intentions to dominate, the visitors moved the ball quickly into the backs and it proved decisive as they left 27-0 victors.
“It was a great all-round performance,” coach Steve Yates said as his side showed little in the way of ring rust despite three weeks without a fixture.
“Despite the spectators shivering in the freezing rain, the team just got on with the game and worked some really top drawer tries.
“Captain (Ashley) Losh led from the front again and I was particularly pleased with the discipline on the field.
“Ellesmere Port next week will be another test before the top-of-the-table clash against Prenton the week after.”
Danny Evans scored a brace of tries for Eagle, with Chris Holden, Chris Bates and Ben Kenwright also crossing the whitewash.
