Graham Potter has told his Albion players they were magnificent at Villa Park.

But he accepts they would probably have secured a first ever win at the venue had Aaron Mooy not been sent off.

Potter went to embrace members of his team on the pitch after their last-gasp 2-1 defeat.

He revealed: "I told them I was proud of them.

"There are not too many times I have stood on the side of a pitch and been more proud of a group of players.

"I just think in the circumstances, how they played and what they put into it, they were magnificent.

"I am just disappointed for them, of course, and for our travelling supporters, who I thought were also really good, that we couldn't hold on for the point.

"At times we were trying to win the game.

"That is how we wanted to go.

"When you look at the first half, the dominance we had in the game, that’s the disappointing thing

"If we had stayed at 11 men, I think we would have won the game."
