WIDNES Vikings have signed Ellis Robson from Warrington Wolves until the end of the 2019 season.

Robson is a product of Warrington’s youth system, and was a former captain of the Wolves’ U19s side, playing in either the second row or at loose forward.

Known for his strong running game and aggressive playing style, Ellis earned a full-time contract with the Wolves following his consistent performances in the club’s U19s.

The 20-year old has spent time at both Dewsbury Rams and Rochdale Hornets this season, including the game yesterday at the Halton Stadium for Matt Calland’s Rochdale.

Whilst Widnes Vikings remain in ‘special measures’, the club has been able to complete this loan signing with the support of both the RFL and Warrington Wolves.

Robson bolsters Kieron Purtill’s side until the end of the year, and adds competition to the club’s forwards for 2019.

Robson said: “I’m really excited to be joining the club and getting stuck in with the lads.

“Widnes are a big club, and the support they’ve had this year is outstanding, so I can’t wait to play in front of them and dig in until the end of the season.

“Coming to Widnes is definitely a challenge, but it’s a challenge that I’m really looking forward to starting.”
