Stockport County Ladies Development 2 Runcorn Linnets Ladies 2
LINNETS Ladies almost ended a gruelling run of three games in a week with a shock victory, but they could not hold on against Stockport.
Already down to the bare bones, Runcorn endured 75 minutes without the luxury of substitutions but took an early lead as Lile Ashley fed Millie Critchley to score.
That was the only goalmouth action of note until 10 minutes after half time when Ashley went from provider to scorer after receiving the ball from Marcia Jones-Sacharewicz.
Megan Pickering made some excellent saves to keep Linnets’ advantage intact but could do nothing to stop Stockport narrowing the deficit from a corner with 20 minutes remaining.
Runcorn tired and eventually conceded an agonising late equaliser before Picking made another splendid save to ensure the game finished level.
Linnets Ladies: Pickering. Evans, (Rossiter-Gurrell) Graham, Collins, Finnegan, Wieland, Kennedy, Barker, Critchley, Jones-Sacharewicz, Ashley.
