DOM Speakman has signed with Widnes Vikings on a deal until the end of the 2019 season.

Speakman, who had been on trial with the club during the Vikings’ pre-season, is a hard-working hooker with previous spells at clubs including St Helens, Barrow Raiders and Dewsbury Rams.

The 24-year old played in all three of the Vikings’ pre-season games against Hull Kingston Rovers, Warrington Wolves and North Wales Crusaders, impressing enough to earn himself a deal for the rest of the current season.

Dom goes straight back into training with the first team squad, and comes into Kieron Purtill’s reckoning for this weekend’s away trip to his former side, Barrow Raiders, on Sunday 10th March.

Speakman said: “I’m made up and it’s a dream come true to sign for the club,”

“I was here when I was younger, since then I’ve gone full circle and I’m delighted to be back here.

“I did pre-season with the lads, and played a couple of games, and I’ve seen that it’s a really good set of forwards for me to play on the back of. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Phil Finney, Performance Director at Widnes Vikings, says: “We are happy to see Dom sign up with us until the end of 2019.

"Dom showed his ability to everyone at the club during our pre-season games this year, and we hope he can replicate that for the remainder of the year.”
