AFTER a turbulent few weeks of uncertainty, there was good news for Widnes Vikings this week after Anthony Gelling joined the club at training as centre Krisnan Inu signed up again for the 2019 season.

It means Vikings will boast a devastating pair of attacking strike centres as they bid to return to Super League at the first attempt.

Gelling's arrival ended weeks of speculation that he was heading to Catalans - after experiencing visa difficulties for his family.

He will spend the next few days at training with the Vikings, before heading back home to wait for the baby to be born.

He said: "There were a couple of visa issues but that is all sorted now and hopefully my family will have them for my family early January."

Visa problems aside, the former Wigan and New Zealand Warriors centre admitted there were other issues playing on his mind following Vikings relegation after he had committed to the club.

"I didn't know what to expect. People were leaving, others were coming - but part of it was an ego thing. I have always played Super League or NRL...do I want to play Championship?" he said.

In tandem with fellow centre Inu, Gelling will be looking to pass on his experience to a youthful Vikings squad.

"We have the young guys who are enthusiastic, who are going to bring the energy, but you need the experienced guys to show the way.

"This could be a really special season, going from getting a kick in the mouth last year to being promoted to Super League.

"I am looking forward to next year and us building some momentum," Gelling said.
