Fylde u15 14 Warrington u15 17
JACK Bailey’s drop goal proved decisive for Warrington’s under 15s in this well-contested Lancashire Cup group game.
A superb start for the visitors saw Jim Hartill make a break and find Leo Zheng in support for the game’s opening try, but more trying times were to come for Warrington.
Scrum-half Jack Whittaker went off injured and Fylde stepped up their game from then on, equalising when Warrington struggled to clear their lines.
The home side then went ahead after the break, but Warrington still had more to give and Zheng scored a superb long-range effort as he broke and wrong-footed the Fylde full-back to cross between the sticks to give Matty Hope an easy conversion.
Warrington’s forwards continued to work hard for territory, and they set up the perfect platform for Bailey to coolly slot the winning drop goal.
Fylde desperately searched for the winning score, but Warrington held on.
The team's next game sees them host Sefton in a friendly match on Sunday.
