WADE Deacon High School are gearing up to play at Wembley this weekend in a game that could see them named the best in the country for their age group.

The school’s year seven rugby team are set to play in the Champion Schools final on Saturday as a curtain raiser to the Challenge Cup final between Warrington Wolves and Catalan Dragons.

They will take on St John Fisher Catholic High School following a tour of the stadium, training session and three-course meal.

And housebuilder Miller Homes has sponsored the team – who will travel to London today, Friday – to receive new tracksuits for the occasion.

Head coach Chaz I’Anson, a former Widnes Vikings and Hull Kingston Rovers halfback, said: “We really appreciate the support from Miller Homes.

“The team are delighted with their new tracksuits, and they’re very much looking forward to wearing them for their trip down to Wembley.”

Leanne Feeley, regional sales manager at Miller Homes, added: “We’re delighted to see how the team’s tracksuits turned out – I hope they bring them plenty of luck for their game at Wembley.

“It was fantastic to work with Wade Deacon High School and we look forward to continuing to support the community, schools and young people in Widnes.”
