WIDNES Wild travel to Hull on Sunday to face the Jets in a 5.15pm face off.

They will do so on the back of two wins at the weekend.

Wild defeated Deeside Dragons 22-2 on Sunday and followed it up with a 7-2 home win against fellow title challengers Altrincham Aces on Sunday to take over top spot of National Ice Hockey League North Laidler Division Two.

Scoring and assists on Sunday came from Ollie Barron 3+2, Simon Offord and Stuart Brittle 1+1, Daniel Bullock and Mike Mawer 1+0, Nick Manning 0+3, Pavel Vales 0+2, Matty Barlow, Mikey Gilbert, Bez Hughes and Shaun Dippnall all 0+1.

Wild head coach Ollie Barron said: “It was a great weekend for my team with two games against teams at opposite ends of the table.

“Saturday was pleasing to get the points comfortably and it was nice to ice Danny Bullock after his return from injury.

"Danny brings a lot of energy and physicality to the team - an edge we have missed at stages in the season so far.

"I was also pleased for Barry Sprakes - to be able to give him the third period was great. Barry is a big part of this club and he deserved it.

“Sunday we knew would be a difficult encounter against a very strong, physical Aces team and we knew that we would have to work hard and be disciplined.

“I felt every single player played a big part in our victory on Sunday. We battled hard for 60 minutes, with each line producing goals, Matt Croyle was solid in goal, and overall we got what we deserved with a big two points.

“Games are coming thick and fast and this league is really tight at the top.

"We travel to Hull this weekend to face a very dangerous Jets team. We will prepare for the game on practice this week and go to Hull with confidence high.”
