LINNETS Ladies defeated Egerton Ladies 3-2 but they left it very late to secure all three Cheshire Women’s League points at the Millbank Linnets Stadium on Sunday - they hit the winner through Kim Roberts, with her second of the game, in stoppage time.

But this was the culmination of a fine comeback display as the home side turned around a two-goal deficit.

Runcorn responded quickly and Roberts, in the right place at the right time, pounced to net the Linnets’ opener.

Linnets got on top in the second half and after 70 minutes, the pressure told as substitute Isherwood scored for the second successive game.

With play fluctuating from end to end in the final ten minutes Linnets exploited a tired Egerton defence.

Roberts was again on hand to seal victory with her second brace as many games.

The whole side deserved merit in this spirited fightback.
