A TEENAGER has been arrested following a burglary in Halstead this morning (Wednesday 19 February).

An 18-year-old from Witham is currently in custody on suspicion of burglary.

The arrest comes after a burglary was reported at 2.15am.

A man in his seventies found the front door of his house on Conies Road, Halstead, was open and that his car had been stolen.

Fortunately, Essex Police managed to track down the car as it was travelling along the A131.

An Essex Police Spokesman said: "We managed to find the vehicle travelling along the A131 and pursued the car before in crashed in London Road, Braintree.

"Two suspects ran from the vehicle.

"We made an arrest following a short chase and the other remains outstanding.

"This man has been described as being white, aged in his late teens and early twenties and was wearing a dark green coat with the hood up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Braintree CID on 101 quoting crime incident 79 of 19/02 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
