A GIFTED teacher has retired from the Runcorn school where she was a pupil.

Andrea Fearn attended The Grange Junior School in September,1964.

She went on to Helsby, trained as a teacher and started her career at Norton Priory Comprehensive.

After having a family, she returned to The Grange, where she has taught in the special needs class for most of her 25 years.

Head teacher Caroline Taylor, said: “Mrs Fearn has a tremendous talent in all areas of art and design and has contributed significantly to school life, not only through her teaching, but also through her imaginative and creative flair.

“All the staff and children have learnt from her high level of expertise in art.

“Her generosity of spirit and kindness has ensured that the children she has taught have always enjoyed their education, and felt valued and confident to take their place, not only within school but also in the wider world when the time came for them to move on.”

Mrs Fearn helped to ensure The Grange has been awarded artsmark gold three times.

She produced high quality costumes, props and scenery for all the school productions and created a magical Christmas panto every year.

She is now looking forward to spending more time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.
