A GIFTED Widnes singer could soon be off to see the wizard.

Amy Diamond, aged 22, of Lynton Crescent, is in the final 10 of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s latest BBC TV show, Over The Rainbow, searching for Dorothy.

We are urging World readers to make Amy’s dream come true by voting for her on Saturday to star in his new production of the Wizard of Oz.

Her mum, Margaret, said: “She loves glitz and glamour.

“She is so excited.

“It would mean absolutely everything if she won. It’s an absolutely massive dream to sing in the West End.”

Amy has been dancing and singing since she was three.

She performed in plays at Our Lady’s RC Primary School and SS Peter and Paul RC High School and starred in 12 years of pantos at the Queens Hall and The Brindley.

She has sung all over the world in China, Russia and Las Vegas as well as modelling.

“She has worked really hard,” said her mum, who watched her perform live in London.

“She is not just a wannabe.

“She has given up her social life and hardly touches a drink.

“She is really proud to be from Widnes.

“Everyone in Widnes knows Amy.”

Her sister, Anna, aged 26, a teacher, said: “Her voice can move us to tears. She deserves a break and we hope people will support her to stay in the competition.”
