Van set on fire in suspected arson attack in Runcorn

POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack after a van was deliberately set on fire.

The incident happened in Runcorn, on Cornwall Close, shortly after midnight on Monday.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze.

Cheshire Police believe two suspects were involved, with one approaching the van on foot and the other assisting on a moped before they fled the scene together.

Detective Constable Rhiannon Jones said: "I would urge anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has CCTV footage that may help us with our enquiries to contact us.

"The same goes for anyone who may have information about those responsible."
