Road closed and repair work underway as mains pipe bursts outside OBA

A ROAD has been closed and emergency works are underway after a mains pipe burst outside a Runcorn school.

United Utilities workers are currently carrying out repair works on Barnfield Avenue outside Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy.

This is after a mains pipe burst on Monday, causing water to flood the surrounding surfaces.

Aerial pictures taken by local resident Ian Cank she the extent of the issue, with machinary being used to dig up areas of land surrounding the pipework.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Our team is on site repairing a leak on a water pipe.

"To allow the work to be carried out safely, it has been necessary to close the road.

"Repairs are expected to be completed within the next few days. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their patience while this work is underway.”
