The best and worst-rated GP surgeries in Halton have been ranked.
Every year, the NHS publishes the results of its annual GP Patient Survey – and the results are now out for 2026.
A total of 6,818 questionnaires were sent out to patients at medical centres across the town, with 1,567 being returned complete, demonstrating a response rate of 22 per cent – down from 26 per cent last year.
The GP Patient Survey measures patients’ experiences across a range of topics, including making an appointment, access to online services and out-of-hours services.
Castlefields Health Centre has been named the best in Halton according to patients, with an overall approval rating of 83 per cent. The practice also came out on top last year, although it had a score of 87 per cent.
In second place Brookvale Practice with an overall approval rating of 79 per cent, compared to 80 per cent in 2025.
Upton Rocks Primary Care came third with a rating of 76 per cent, an impressive jump from 61 per cent last year.
At the other end of the table is Murdishaw with a score of 59 per cent. Just above is Newtown Surgery in Widnes with 65 per cent and The Tower House Practice in Runcorn with an overall approval rating of 66 per cent.
