A RUNCORN rapist has been jailed after he attacked his victim and left her scared she was going to die.
Dewi Jones, of The Copse in Runcorn, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday.
The court heard that the 36-year-old orally raped a woman and restricted her beathing in 2024, leaving her terrified and thinking that she was going to die.
Despite her protestations, he refused to stop and the woman had to fight him off before Jones went on to mock and blame her.
Jones denied the horrific offending all the way to trial, where he was later found guilty of rape by a jury.
At his sentencing, he was jailed for seven years and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
An indefinite restraining order was also put in place to protect his victim.
“Despite the overwhelming evidence in text messages back and forth on her terrifying ordeal and his general behaviour towards her, Jones still went to trial forcing the victim to relive the experience in court,” said DC Kelsie Sherratt.
“The jury saw through his lies, and he was given a significant sentence for his despicable and dangerous behaviour.”
