A QUARTER of a million pounds is being raised to help upgrade a cancer centre.
A major fundraising appeal has been launched to refurbish and upgrade Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s chemotherapy unit in Halton.
The campaign will fund improvements to meet rising demand and provide patients with more space, comfort, and privacy.
The scheme will support the SACT (systemic anti-cancer therapies) unit, which delivers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other targeted treatments at the Runcorn centre.
The appeal was launched on Wednesday, May 13 at the Halton centre during a special event attended by patients, staff, supporters, and community representatives.
The £250,000 project will upgrade treatment chairs, reconfigure flexible bays for social interaction or privacy, and create space for growing patient demand.
The appeal hopes to reach its target by October 2026.
The launch event included personal stories from patients and staff, a look at artist impressions of the planned refurbishment, and the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Martha Lloyd Jones, and representatives from Warrington Wolves rugby league club.
