HEARTFELT conversations and shared memories marked a recent visit.
Detachment Commander SSgt Brian Jacobs of the Widnes Detachment, Normandy Company and the Cheshire Army Cadet Force, spent time with residents at three Halton Council care homes, where he met and spoke with veterans and their spouses.
The visit began at Millbrow Care Home with Louise, the care home's Armed Forces Champion, where veteran residents and their spouses shared stories with SSgt Jacobs.
Millbrow also presented a donation to him for detachment funds, raised during a recent "Wear Your Jumper Day."
During the visit to St Patrick’s, three veteran residents were presented with Veteran Badges, having been applied for through the Ministry of Defence.
All three accepted their badges with pride.
At Madeline McKenna Court, Marie gave SSgt Jacobs a tour of the home, where he met a Signals veteran who served with the same cap badge as SSgt Jacobs during his time in the Regular Army.
They shared stories and laughter as they reminisced about their service.
The visit concluded with a moment of remembrance.
A resident who lost her husband in active military service joined SSgt Jacobs in planting a cherry blossom tree in his honour.
"The visit ended with a very touching moment.
"Brian and the resident planted a cherry blossom tree together, creating a lasting tribute to his service and sacrifice.
"A heartfelt thank you to SSgt Brian Jacobs for taking the time to visit our homes and spend such meaningful time with our residents."
