THE number of patients who started their cancer treatment at Halton Hospital within 62 days of an urgent referral has been revealed.

The list has been compiled by the Press Association from data published by NHS England.

The figures cover 119 acute NHS trusts in England that had comparable data for both 2024 and 2025.

At Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals, 79 per cent of patients started cancer treatment within 62 days.

This puts the trusts within the top quarter in the country where at least 75 per cent of patients began treatment within 62 days of urgent referral.

And it places it 16th on a list of 119 trusts.

Warrington and Halton Hospitals also experienced a slight improvement, as in 2024 the figure was 78 per cent.

Only one trust was below 50 per cent in 2025 – Mid & South Essex, on 45.4 per cent – while two were under 50 per cent in 2024: Guy’s & St Thomas’ (47.7 per cent) and Mid & South Essex (47.0 per cent).

Here is the list in full. It reads from left to right: name of NHS trust; percentage of patients in 2025 who began their first treatment for cancer within 62 days of an urgent referral; percentage (in brackets) in 2024 who began their first treatment within 62 days.
