TWO people from Widnes are among four defendants to have appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice.

Caitlyn Waring, 25, of Linear View, Newton-le-Willows, and Nicole McMenamy, 25, of Baltimore Drive, Sutton, appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, June 18.

They appeared alongside co-defendants Walid Gbeira, 37, of Birchfield Road, Widnes and Joanne Fillingham, 38, of Birchfield Road, Widnes.

The three women and one man have all been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

They are accused of conspiring together to make false reports and statements to the police to incriminate a male in 2022.

The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court, where all the accused are next due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Wednesday, July 16.

The four defendants were granted unconditional bail until then.
