Families are being asked to sign up for a hospice's annual Santa Dash.

The event, which raises money for Halton Haven Hospice, will see hundreds of people running, jogging, or walking a 3km route while dressed in Santa suits.

It will take place on Sunday, December 15 at 10am.

The route starts at West Bank Boat Club Café, Spike Island, Widnes, and ends near Costa in Runcorn after crossing the Silver Jubilee Bridge.

The event is in aid of Halton Haven Hospice, which provides specialist end-of-life care and support.

This year's sponsor, Merseyflow, is encouraging more people to take part and help raise the funds needed by the hospice.

Tina Gill, fundraising manager at Halton Haven Hospice, said: "We’ve had a great response so far and would like to see even more people sign up to help make this the best Santa Dash ever.

"Last year’s Santa Dash was an amazing sight, seeing hundreds of Santas dashing over the bridge in support of our local hospice.

"It’s always a fun and festive way to bring the community together."

Merseyflow, the event sponsor, is also participating by entering a team of staff into the fun run.

Helen Williams, marketing manager for Merseyflow, said: "The whole team is really looking forward to taking part in this year’s Santa Dash and we’re pleased to be supporting Halton Haven Hospice further by sponsoring the event this year.

"The Halton Haven team do an amazing job caring for their residents and families, and we’d love to see more of the community sign up to help raise much-needed funds for this amazing cause."

The Santa Dash entry fee is £20 for adults and £10 for children aged up to 16 years.

Under 5s can join for free, but no Santa suit is provided.

Dogs can participate for £2, and a family ticket costs £50.

The registration cost includes a Santa suit, a medal on completion, and a mince pie.

People can sign up on the Halton Haven Hospice website or at the hospice reception.
