AN elderly lady had her handbag and £3,000 stolen in a devastating distraction theft in Widnes.
The incident occurred last month on Monday, October 7, at Widnes Market.
Cheshire Police has confirmed that it is investigating the shocking theft, and it has now released CCTV stills of two men officers wish to speak to.
They were seen inside the Halifax bank branch on Albert Road before the theft.
The force’s Widnes Police team said: “Can anyone identify these men wanted in connection with a distraction theft on Monday, October 7?
“Between 10.40am and 11.50am on this date, an elderly woman had her handbag stolen containing £3,000 from Widnes Market.
“Both men were seen inside Halifax bank on Albert Road immediately before the theft took place.
“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting occurrence number 24000856161.”
