A DRIVER has been charged by police after a man from Runcorn died in a fatal crash.
Joshua Eldred has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a sample.
This follows a crash on the A533 Runcorn Road, between Barnton and the A49, on Thursday, July 18.
Cheshire Police was called to the scene at 9.16am amid reports of a crash between a blue Ford Focus and a white Suzuki Celerio.
A passenger in the Suzuki, a 48-year-old man from Runcorn, died at the scene, police confirmed.
The driver, a 48-year-old woman from Runcorn, sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital, where she is receiving treatment, the force said.
Eldred, of no fixed abode, but of Northwich, who had been driving the Ford, was arrested at the scene.
The 31-year-old has been remanded in custody after being charged and is set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Monday, August 19.
