A 10k run with scenic views across the iconic Silver Jubilee Bridge took place in Widnes last Sunday.

RunThrough, the UK’s largest and Europe’s fastest growing running events company, hosted the 10k run in Widnes.

The event was part of the Top Flight Elite Race Series, attracting a diverse group of runners for the events.

The race featured a closed road course that allowed participants to enjoy views of the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal.

“We are incredibly proud of the turnout and enthusiasm show at the Top Flight Jubilee Bridge 10k,” said Chris Parr, race director at RunThrough.

“The energy was palpable, and it was fantastic to see so many runners pushing their limits and enjoying the beauty of the Silver Jubilee Bridge.”

Participants ranged from elite athletes to amateur runners and those that came first place out of both men and women received £200 each.

The event also focussed on mental fitness, as State of Mind Sport was chosen as RunThrough’s charity of the year.

“We are delighted to be the charity of the year for 2024,” said Dr Phil Cooper, co-founder and trustee of State of Mind.

“The Jubilee Bridge events are located where we delivered our first mental fitness session to professional rugby league team, Widnes Vikings, in 2011.

“State of Mind run mental fitness sessions locally at the Widnes Vikings stadium every Tuesday.”
