EMERGENCY services were called to Runcorn this afternoon, Monday, following a crash.
One fire engine from Runcorn attended the Rocksavage Expressway at 4pm.
An articulated heavy goods vehicle had turned on its side leaving the driver trapped.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: "The driver was eventually able to self-extricate and was assessed by firefighters using a trauma pack.
"An ambulance was called to the scene and police closed the Weston Point Expressway from the M56 towards the Mersey Gateway."
