AN OSWESTRY hotel worker is celebrating after being named the best in her business at a prestigious in-house company event.

Claudia Usai is a familiar friendly face in the restaurant, behind the bar or on reception at Oswestry’s popular Wynnstay Hotel in Church Street.

And she suddenly found herself the centre of attention when more than 300 colleagues gathered for Wynnstay owners The Coaching Inn Group’s annual awards.

She was named as the front-of-house person of the year by the group, which manages former coaching inn pubs and hotels across the country, much to her delight.

Claudia said: “It certainly came as a surprise.

“It’s really great working at the hotel, welcoming all our many regulars and returning hotel guests.

Claudia – born in Sardinia in Italy – came to the United Kingdom around a decade ago with her family and has worked at the hotel ever since.

She has been named Front of House person of the Year by the group which operates 35 hotels and inns in market towns across the country.

Claudia was accompanied to the event in Lincoln by other team members including her husband Roberto, who is a group maintenance engineer.

Speaking after the awards held in Lincoln, group chief operating officer Adam Charity, said long serving Claudia ‘was a most valued member of his team’.
