A CYCLIST was taken to hospital after falling down a steep muddy embankment in Runcorn.
Police say the man was riding on Astmoor Road when he fell off his bike at around 7.40pm last night, Thursday.
A special rope rescue unit from Lymm came to his aid.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a cyclist – a man – who had fallen off his bike on an embankment.
“The man was conscious and breathing and has been taken to hospital as a precaution.”
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters assisted other emergency services to rescue a person who had slipped won a steep muddy embankment.
“Our specialist rope rescue unit from Lymm attended to help get the person out.”
