A LIFESAVING piece of equipment has been installed at a children’s centre in Runcorn.

Inglefield Children’s Centre now has a defibrillator fitted, and all staff have been trained to use the important device.

Halton Borough Council says Inglefield is a vital community service, providing short breaks for children and young people in the borough that have complex health needs and learning disabilities.

As part of Inglefield’s future business plan, incorporating health and wellbeing for those who use the service, registered manager Phil Woods and assistant manager Krysia Morrow applied to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) for a defibrillator to be installed outside Inglefield.

This would be in an accessible location to allow the wider community of Castlefields to access in times of an emergency, with NWAS training all Inglefield staff on how to use it.

Mark Collins, NWAS community resuscitation engagement officer, fully supported Inglefield in the process of applying for and having the defibrillator fitted.

During a recent independent inspection of Inglefield, the inspector said: “Inglefield is an excellent facility for the young people of Halton.

“Now having a defibrillator in place could help save a child’s life, as well as lives of the people in the local community.

“I applaud the foresight of the management at Inglefield.”
