THE Mersey has ‘breached its banks’ in Runcorn.
This is following a flood alert that was issued for Halton yesterday, Monday.
The alert, issued by the Environment Agency, was due to forecasts of higher-than-normal tides and related to the Mersey Estuary.
Areas at risk were noted as Liverpool, New Ferry, Woodside, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, Widnes and Hale Village.
This picture sent in by Gill Crosby shows the high water levels at Wigg Island.
She said how the Mersey has ‘already breached its banks’.
