A DIRECTOR who has overseen 138,000 eye tests and dispensed thousands of pairs of glasses is celebrating 30 years of services.

Optometrist director Stuart Jones runs Specsavers Runcorn alongside retail director Chris Graham and dispensing optician Sophie Atherton.

He started his Specsavers career back in 1994 when he was part of the original Runcorn team.

Since cutting the ribbon three decades ago, Stuart has worked with hundreds of team members including his daughter Izzy Jones who qualified in April 2023 after completing her pre-registration under the supervision of her dad.

Celebrating his 30 years of service, Stuart said: “We opened in 1994 with a small team and two consulting rooms.

“Our constant commitment over the years to improve and develop our services has given us a strong bond with the local community.

“Building those relationships over the years has been the most rewarding part of my career and I now look on many Runcorn residents as part of my extended family.

“I feel we are well placed to make the next 30 years even better.”

Chris added: “Stuart has always given excellent service here at the Runcorn store and I know our customers feel the same.

“He’s managed to build a real connection with so many of the people he sees, to the point where some of his customers from the early days are now bringing their children to see him for their eye health.

“Not only that, but he’s a skilled supervisor who knows how to bring the best out of his team.

“He’s a real credit to the store and we can’t thank him enough.”
