INTERNS at a Runcorn animal hospital are celebrating successfully progressing in their careers.

The one-year rotating internship at Northwest Veterinary Specialists (NWVS) has helped ‘six of the best’ hard-working interns to successfully progress to residency or specific roles.

Among those taking on roles at NWVS is Maria Lucas as an internal medicine intern, Layla Thompson as a surgery intern and Serena Monti as surgery resident.

Meanwhile, Judy Soley will move to North Downs Specialist Referrals in Surrey as a medicine intern, Eva Garcia will join Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire as an ophthalmology intern, and Holly Wilson will progress her career as a surgery intern.

Chantal Rosa, veterinary surgeon diplomate in internal medicine at NVWS, provides support to the interns and believes their success is built on three pillars.

She said: “NWVS provides a very friendly working environment, while also providing excellent opportunities for career progression, alongside the opportunity for new interns to be exposed to their areas of interest.”

Those hoping to follow this success are encouraged to apply for a rotating internship as it recruits its next round, with applications closing mid-January.

Jenny Pearson, hospital manager at NWVS, said: “NWVS is ideally placed to help those starting out on their paths towards specialism by providing the knowledge and expertise they will need.

“The success of our latest rotating interns is testament to this.”
