A BLOCK of flats on the site of a demolished pub in Warrington is set to open next month.

The flats have been built on the site that was formerly occupied by Chevys, a sports pub.

Demolition works on the pub began in 2021, and the development seemed on track to be completed in summer 2023.

However, complaints were made by Warrington Guardian readers that the development had 'ground to a halt' last year, as it seemed that no progress had been made on moving residents into the block of flats.

When questioned on this, the developers - Torus - explained that the development needed to be plumbed in, and then it would be complete.

Speaking at the time, Chris Bowen, managing director at Torus Developments, said: "Currently, we are working with our supplier to connect all utilities at Marsh House, and are expecting full handover of the scheme later this summer."

However, as of January 24, the development is still not complete - almost eight months later than scheduled.

Mr Bowen has since been quizzed on this delay, and he told the Warrington Guardian: "The site will be completed [in] February, following the delay with the utilities connection.”
