A YELLOW weather warning for rain and wind has been issued in Halton.

The Met Office has issued the warnings as Storm Isha is set to hit the UK this weekend, bringing both heavy rain and strong winds to the town.

It says the strong winds associated with the storm may bring disruption to travel and utilities while injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.

Weather experts also say that some damage to buildings could be caused, that public transport services may be affected with longer journey times and cancellations, that power cuts may occur and that some roads and bridges may close.

Meanwhile, disruption from flooding is also expected from the heavy rain.

In terms of what to expect from the rain, the Met Office says that public transport journeys may take longer, spray and flood on roads could make journey times longer, flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, and that some interruption to power supplies and other services is likely.

The yellow warning of wind will be in place from 12am on Sunday to 12am on Monday while the yellow warning of rain will be in place from 6am on Sunday to 12am on Monday.
