A MOTORCYLIST is in hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following a crash earlier today on a busy Widnes road.

Cheshire Police have issued an appeal after a collision took place between a car and a motorcycle on Moore Lane at around 3pm today, Saturday, January 13.

The road has been closed in both directions whilst police carry out accident investigation work, with traffic building in the surrounding area.

The rider of the motorcycle was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Fiesta and remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Widnes.

At 2.53pm today, Saturday January 13, police were called to reports of a collision on Moore Lane, Widnes.

Officers attended and found that the collision involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Sym motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have information to get in touch.”

Superintendent Saf Ali, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said: “This is a busy road and there will have been a number of vehicles travelling at this time.

“As part of our investigation, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of it.”
